| MARCH-APRIL-- SCREW IT, ALL OF SPRING This is where I'll rate the anime I've seen within the last months and give feedback. If you're looking for a new anime, here's where you can find some info! Another is one of the newer anime. It is about a cursed classroom- a rather complex storyline, but I'll sum best I can- where if certain rules are not followed, the class will start dying one after another. It seems simple when I say it like that, but it certainly isn't! What makes the anime most for me is the wide range of characters and how they react to the situation. For those who like more gorey animes, this will be great for you. Along with this, the animation is beautiful and has some scenes that may make you want to rewatch for the art (such as a pane of glass breaking in the sun). I was a bit off-put by the gore personally which is why I don't rate it as highly, but loved and reccomend it nonetheless. First off, if you're going to watch this, do it in english. This anime is about, basically, a young girl and her crybaby brother who live in an abnormally haunted town; luckily they find their desceased mother's book on how to defeat these creatures. It sounds like a pretty basic plot, and Japan likely kept it that way. I imagine it to be pretty boring in Japanese. So then here comes the english. Basically this was an anime where the english voice actors were allowed to dub it however the frick they wanted, ending up witht the main characters as a cynical teen girl, a sex-crazed teen boy, the younger brother that 90% talks in "WAHWAHWAH", the born-again Christian, and the nerdy narcissist. It has a very Shin-Chan in english esque about it due to the common political joke mentionings among other innapropriate subjects, making a pretty hilarious anime. Overall though my 3/5 comes from the not-so-great art (I do imagine it's pretty old though) and sometimes, even in english, still managing to be a tad boring. It's still pretty frikkin funny though. This is another I reccomend to watch in english, mostly because it makes the parts where Japanese is translated to another person more interesting, but the dub is also great itself. This is a very feminist-esque anime as the biggest badasses of the series are all female. We begin with "Rock", a translator who decided to stay on the side of his Russian-mafia led captors on their escapade. But we all know what captures you into the story most is the only person shown in the opening- Revy, a high-strung, short-tempered, ambidextrous shooter working on the Russian mafia; or rather, just happens to work with them as long as she can do and shoot what she wants. Fans of MLP:FiM should be interested in giving this a try in english as many of the same voice actors did Black Lagoon (Spitfire/Gilda, Rarity/Derps/Luna, Spike, Flim, AJ/RD as a boy etc). Note though that this contains heavy amounts of swearing, especially F*CK! and minor blood from mostly guns and ecchi at the strip clubs. Although it's not the kind of anime I usually like, this kept my attention and the many stories were thrilling. You should definetely give it a shot (ba dum chhhh!). OH LAWDY. School Days. This show begins as a cliche school romance where a boy wants to confess to a girl, so another girl who is friends with his crush helps him. Then sh*t goes down, quite frankly. This is the type of anime that makes you wonder "is the main character totally braindead, or is he a sociopath and really doesn't get what he's doing wrong?". I still don't know. Quickly this becomes the type of story where every girl in the school for no reason at all, wants the main boy. What is his reaction? He's down for it. Soon he's cheating on girl after girl and claiming that there's nothing wrong, with almost no remorse at all. Unfortunately, his intended crush was probably a ticking time-bomb of insanity, so let's just say it doesn't end well for him. I can't say I like this anime because of obvious reasons; cliche characters, the guy they all want, a weird flower metaphor that changes later on, and brain-numbing stupidity. I only give it its star because I was captured an made it through the series, wanting to know how it ended. Do I reccommend it? All I have to say is... nice boat. (REWATCH TIME: 3) This is the third time I've watched the anime K-on! (Keion; Light Music Club, technically) and I think it will always be one of my favorites. K-on! is one of the animes that is a slice-of-life and filled with moe girls but still can touch and inspire you. The main reason I feel so much passion if that this show inspired me to learn bass guitar where I then related in getting and naming my bass (Ashita!) like the girls of K-on! do, and even playing some of their beautiful and just brilliant songs. This show is about a group of girls trying to continue their new school's failing light music club but must form enough members to do so. Soon the club is formed and you watch the members grow quite literally and learn many things about being a band that ranges from accurate (ex. learning terms like "choking" and "muting") as well as emotional (balancing play with work, stage fright). No matter male or female, I'm sure you can find one of these wide range of characters to connect with and maybe even be inspired to make your own music! I reccommend it for anyone patient enough to stand school life and slice-of-life shows; this is one of the best ones I've seen! <3 First of all, I think it's totally necessary to play the first Rune Factory game before attempting this one. The main reason is that you see many characters with eery similarities to the ones in RF1, and even a character from the last game back again. But I'll get to that later. Now I love the Rune Factory series. But this game... it's not my favorite. It's a very slow game and unlike the first one, appears to have very little plot if any at all. This is the first quest-based game, so that is the main concentration of the game as you help your townsfolk (usually quite easily). To summarize, this just like the first game in the sense that you are a boy with amnesia who wanders into a town, is offered to live on an abandoned farm, and ends up living there, eventually choosing whatever girl you with to settle down with and fighting monsters. The characters are ranged- though admittedly, I feel the first game and Tides of Destiny is much more ranged as they have their more negative-personality characters like Bianca, Mei and Pandora that are more of a challenge; in RF2, these personality traits go to two boys, Barret and Jake. Another off-putter is the small glitches in the game such as the odd tweak that some people call you "Aaron" (the name of your son in Generation 2, which I haven't reached yet. Dunno how it works) no matter what your name is. What I do like now, and here's the main thing especially, is that the character Cecilia, who was a young girl in RF1, has moved to your town and is now a dateable character. Those who loved the first game like me probably were thrilled when they saw a little bit of that game continue on. Another thing I like that you have rivals that can and will marry certain characters if you do not choose them before hand, creating a bit more competition if you choose one of those girls. It is far too easy to gain love points though. In conclusion, if you liked Rune Factory 1, I'd go for it. If not, start with the first game first! It's a classic, and you just might want to continue on with number 2! |
